Walk Against Family Violence 2026

  • Birrarung Marr Hilltop (Upper Terrace) Melbourne, Victoria, 3000 Australia (map)

Walk with Bi+ Pride Victoria at the Walk Against Family Violence 2026 to help create Victorian communities where everyone is safe, equal and respected.

About this event

In 2026, Bi+ Pride Victoria (BPV) will be joining the Walk Against Family Violence in Melbourne.

Please come and walk with us to help create Victorian communities where everyone is safe, equal and respected.

Many bi+ people are impacted by intimate partner violence, sexual violence and other forms of gender-based violence. Bi+ women, and trans and gender diverse bi+ people, are at especially high risk. BPV advocates for more effective action to prevent and respond to all forms of violence against bi+ people.

By joining the Walk we can take action to prevent family violence and violence against women, and stand in solidarity with people who've experienced violence.

More about the walk

The Walk Against Family Violence is coordinated by Respect Victoria. It is an important event during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence – a global campaign for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

People of all genders are welcome.

This year, the Walk falls on Transgender Day of Remembrance, and we will also be honouring the memory of transgender people whose lives have been cut short because of discrimination and gendered violence.

What to expect

The event will commence at 10:00am at Birrarung Marr (Upper Terrace) and will get underway quickly. We will walk together to Treasury Gardens (approximately 700 metres), where we will hear from a lineup of powerful speakers.

Our BPV contingent will gather and walk together as a group with our banner. We will share details of our planned meeting spot prior to the day. We expect there will be thousands of other people walking.

We are able to stay in the Gardens after the formalities finish. There will be food trucks, entertainment, market stalls and a positive atmosphere!

What to bring

  • Wear an orange hat or some orange clothing

  • Waterbottle

  • Signs or banners optional
